Your own backyard

Hey y'all,

As warmer weather approaches, what are some things that you and your littles are looking forward to doing?

Can I just tell you how great it felt to take our books outside this morning, to sprawl across the front porch and soak in the sunshine. Coffee in hand, the girls breezing through their work just eagerly waiting to run around and let those little wings fly.

Of course after school we enjoyed some trampoline time, riding bikes, playing tag, followed by a quick trip into town to shop for some shorts lol. I cant wait for day trips to the beach or the zoo. Weekend trips to the Outer Banks or the mountains.

But what about the little things that you can do right at home in your own backyard?

*Build and paint bird feeders and watch the birds, you can even turn this into a science activity.

*make a fairy garden

*Paint rocks and spread them around town for others to find or make a rock garden at home

*create a scavenger hunt

*Tin can bowling (set up tin cans in the grass and try to roll a ball to knock over)

*side walk chalk a huge game of hopscotch

*plant a garden to produce your own vegtables

*have a campout

*have the kids put together and enjoy a backyard picnic

*rock tic tac toe (paint X's and O's on rocks and create your own board)

*make tye dye shirts

*put a sprinkler under your trampoline for some added excitment

There are so many different things that you can do for FREE in your very own backyard. Now what mama out there doesnt enjoy and activity that keeps the kids busy, happy and to top it all off its right at home.

So, put your creativity hats on and have fun with your kiddos this spring! Get your hands dirty, let the grass tickle your toes, and let the sun kiss those sweet babies cheeks....and because we all have those days we just need a little more rest and whole lot more coffee, grab a good book, your lawn chair and watch them let their imaginations run wild.

Happy Spring y'all!
