Hey yall,

As summer approaches Id like to take a minute and talk about somthing thats not homeschool related, and not necassarily even mom related. But more of a woman empowerment thing. I know a while back I briefly touched on the topic but I just wanted to say something thats been on my heart.....

As summer approaches and shorts, tanktops, bathingsuits, etc make more of an appearence remeber to be kind!!! I went to the beach the other day and when I got home I was so excited to look at my families photos. I got home and looked at my children and husband happily playing frisbee and jumping in the waves. The few pictures that I had of me and the family (because im usually the one behind the camera) I felt and urge to delete. I felt chubby and just studied every flaw on my body. How could my handsome husband and my beautiful girls want to be seen with me in a bathing suit (even if it was a one piece).

Then of course my overthinking mind got going and I wondered how many beach goers looked at me and thought ..wow look at that lady and her cellulite, or her chubby imperfect belly, how did she get a guy like that?

But you know what? Why should I have to feel that way? Why should I not have confidence in my body and in myself? why should I care about the negative thoughts of others?

Remember that we as woman need to lift eachother up. We need to set the example for our kids and little Girls. If I see a woman standing in line at the market I may compliment her hair, or her cute top. If I see a woman struggling with a crying baby or having a difficult time with a rambunctious toddler. I reassure her that shes doing a great job.

And though I cant be sure, i'd like to think that my act of kindness and truth makes an impact on their day.

Its easy to be self concious in a world full of TV and magazines telling us how to look and how to act. Trying to give us a false idea of what the "perfect" family should look like.

Thats why now more than ever we as woman need to stick together and remind each other how amazing they are, how beautiful, smart, and talented they are.

Whether you are a size 2 or a size 22 remember that we all need love, we all need to know we are loved, we all need to be reminded that we're beautiful and sometimes a wave, a smile or even a compliment can make someones day!

I know I for one have 2 daughters. That I don't ever want to feel how I did at the beach the other day. I want them to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin. I want them to of course have modesty but to know that they are perfect just the way they are.

So, this summer proudly wear that bathing suit, enjoy your cute shorts and get that tan youve been dreaming of all winter long. Know that you are beautiful, you are amazing and you are perfect just the way you are!
