Hey y'all,
You know how my day went today? lol. Well, I found a Free trampoline online and wanted to surprise my niece with it. She lives with my husbands mom and needs a little something fun to do outside, not having other kids/siblings around all the time.
I made a plan yesterday to meet the lady who was giving the trampoline away. The only catch was we (My husband and I) had to disassemble it. Which seemed easy enough, considering having our own, we've become quite good at.....However.....me having a mom brain that is always thinking of a million other things, spaced bringing and screwdrivers, or you know anything at all to take the thing down. Not to mention it was pouring buckets hahaha.
So there Dustin and I were in the pouring rain, trying to undo screws with nothing but our wet, numb, cramping hands. Trying to take this thing apart. oh, did I mention that my boots were slowly sinking into the mud creating a wonderful suction type thing going on. As though the new found vaccum attached to my feet wasnt enough. I now could not only not move my feet but had raindrops pouring in my eyes, my hands full of poles and springs...
I kept wondering how hard the home owners were laughing inside the house probably peeking out there windows looking at us like we are some crazy circus act lol. I was up on the trampoline kicking out leaves, pine needles and those spikey little buggers from the gumball trees. Looking like a full on hot mess. Dustin was getting a good laugh as I frolicked along kicking the things off the mat.
I can only imagine there being a video floating somewhere out there in youtube land.
It may not sound like it, but it was quite the comedy show!
Now, i'm imagining the smile on my nieces face when she sees her surprise. It would all be worth it right? My ruined jacket covered in mud and dirt. The cramps in my hands from trying to undo what felt like a million springs. The wet dog look I was totally rocking lol.
The answer is yes!
Both my mother in law and my niece seemed very happy with the surprise, and heck, I had a fun afternoon playing in mud lol. I'd call that a win, win lol.
What a reminder it is to remenace when we were kids who loved splashing in puddles and stomping around in the mud. Playing in the rain somehow made whatever we were doing more fun.
Well, its true y'all. We were laughing and having a good ole tim out there like some 7 year old kids... So let your kids ruin that shirt in the mud, go outside and stomp around with them, go catch tadpoles in the creek or make a mud pie. Because kids are only kids for so long. Before you know it they are in their 30s or 40s much like myself, full of behaving "appropriatley", getting chores done, spending so much time cleaning up messes that why on earth would they want to allow anyone to make more? Let alone in the mud lol.
The answer is simple. Kids need to enjoy being little, to use their imaginations, their senses, their inquizitivness, they need to enjoy being full of life, love and laughter.
So, tomorrow when your kids least expect it, take them outside, go jump in the puddles, throw a few snowballs, jump in the leaves, swing from the trees...take some time to do anything else that reminds them that its ok to have fun, its ok to be little, and you want to share those experiences and laughs right there with them!
