New England

Updated: Oct 14, 2020

Good morning y'all,

So its been a few days since I last posted. We have been having our New England adventure. And what an adventure it was.

Having been born and raised in a small New Hampshire town. The fall has always been my favorite time of year. From the crisp fall mornings to the beautiful colors that only New England foliage offers.

Every time I visit home I feel its too short to get everything in that I want to see. Having lived down south for the last 7 years. I only get home about once or twice a year.

While on our trip this year we were lucky enough to visit some beautiful sights. All of which I have been to before. But fun and beautiful no matter how many times you enjoy them. Below is a list of my favorite things we did or saw while on our trip.

Mount Major- (Hiking) A little gem in Alton. NH. With an elevation of around 1,800 ft. This is a relatively easy hike compared to many others that the white mountains of NH offer. Though depending on which route or trail you choose its not for the weak at heart.

Steap terrain and lots of rocks make maneuvering these trails somewhat tricky. You can reach the summit in 30-60min depending on how experienced and in shape you are. With 360* panoramic views of the beautiful foliage the lakes region has to offer.

Ordione point- This 162 acre state park is home to world war ll Fort Dearborn. With winding trails leading to forts and tunnels hidden in the vegetation. While at the state park you can enjoy rocky ocean views with sailboats, and the Wentworth by the sea (originally built in 1874), and on clear days you can even see straight across to the Isles of shoals. Which was once walked by pilgrams and pirates with a history of going back 400 years. Now there are several independent homes, a motel and a marine science school. You can often take boat charters for what is called the Star island stop over. Where you may see whales and many scuba divers. While at Ordione Children can enjoy the playground, Tidepooling and family picnic areas. While the seacoast science centers offers hands on touch tanks and history of the seacoast for an extra fee.

Walker's Point Estate (or the Bush compound) -Is the summer retreat house of the Bush family. George H.W Bush the 41st president of the United States. It is located along the Atlantic Ocean shoreline in Kennebunkport, Maine. While pullovers along the shoreline road allow for beautiful views of not only the estate but the breathtaking shoreline. Your family can get out and take pictures while sitting on the large rocks that are common along the Atlantic coast.

Applecrest farm and orchards in Hampton Falls, NH is a hidden gem. With fields of apple trees and the smell of fresh cider and their to die for apple cider donuts. This is a must for not only the fall season bit year round. In the spring they have pick your own flowers, berries and more. While the fall offers a petting zoo. 10 acre corn maze, live bluegrass music, pumpkin patches and more. I have been visiting this farm for as long as I can remember. Its a staple back home. I am so glad I now share this with my children. My daughter (fall baby) had her 2nd and 11th birthday in these orchards. Just a picnic with family followed by all the farm has to offer (pumpkins. Hayrides, apple picking, and sweet treats)

Much our time spent up North was enjoying family and friends we don't have the luxury of seeing often. So we didn't do too many touristy things. Not to mention this is home to me. So I have been there done that lol.

But for those of you have never been up North these are some great things to visit.

Well, now its time to grab some coffee and finish out our 12 hr drive home.

I hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!
