What supplies do you as a homeschool mom find you absolutely must have?
My days of a school provided list of supplies has gone by the way side. Now I as the teacher need to determine what it is we need to succeed!
Here is a list of some of the things I find helpful to have on hand at all times.....
*Coffee every morning
Wine for the challenging days
Advil for the headaches
A comfy pillow for much needed sleep at the end of the day........
Ok,ok, So I was kidding about some of those🤣But lets face it. COFFEE is LIFE!!!!!!
My real list
Lined paper
Plain white paper
3 hole punch
Colored pencils
Markers
Lots and lots of pencils
Highlighters
Storage bins to divide childrens supplies and/or work
Book shelf (you can never have too many books)
Dictionary
Calculator
Dry erase board/markers
Folders
A great planner for yourself
US/world maps
A great curriculum
Now clearly this all depends on your specific teaching style. I personally prefer color, art and hands on learning. (Maybe I have some undiagnosed adhd or something lol, who knows!) but starring blankly at words on a page doesn't engage me nearly as much as hands on activities do. So I really enjoy bringing out the creative side of my children as well. With that being said, we color, paint, take field trips and explore the outdoors. While we follow along the curriculums material in our text and work books. My kids love it!
On any given day the walls of our school room are much like those of a museum. My childrens art, whether it be a timeline of history, a painting of a cell of a plant or even a drawing of their latest vocabulary word. Can be found in different places throughout the room, proudly on display. (Also used as reference of what we have learned that week.)
I try to make it as creative and fun as possible.
What is your teaching style? What are your favorite supplies? What am I missing? Help a mama out.....
