This morning as you are reading this, drinking your coffee and looking out your window into the sunshine...
Don't forget that a mere 19 years ago
246 took flights
2,606 people went to work
343 firefighters went their morning shift
60 police officers went in for morning patrol
8 paramedics went to their morning shift of saving lives
Yet, none of them took a breath past 10:00 A.M. on September 11, 2001
And it doesn't matter if you weren't there, too little to remember, or not even born yet, this day, this piece of history - changed the world forever.
Men and woman ran into collapsing buildings, smoke and fire to save the lives of perfect strangers.
My brothers and sisters of the fire dept, did the only thing they new how as they ran in to the danger as many others around the city ran out. Police officers, rescue dogs, paramedics and hospital staff worked tirelessly. Some risked it all for their fellow citizens.
Civilians stepped up and took action on hijacked planes, In the falling towers and smoke filled pentagon....they helped eachother walk through ash filled streets and held hands as ordinary people/strangers became united!
Helpers emerged!
How refreshing is it, that in the midst of pure terror, fear and chaos that helpers always begin to emerge.
"Greater love has no one that this, that someone lay down his life for a friends"
John 15:13
For me being an American, a mother, Daughter, sister, friend and former firefighter. I still feel shook by the devastation that occurred that day! As did our entire country....
The United States of America was forever changed that day!
Our Nation moved into a post 9/11 way of life. People hung Flags with pride, wrote and sang songs about being an American, churches became flooded with an infux of people....Communities, cities, states and our Nation came together forgetting anything that may have separated them before!
Our nation roared with a pride and love for our country that up until that day I had never perceived.
So I challenge you today, to take time to truly remember that day and how it felt feeling and seeing how our country came together. How we all mourned one great loss together.
I encourage you to be still and take a moment of silence for those who lost their lives that day and since then due to post effects of that tragic day. Be it PTSD, cancer, suicide, etc.
I challenge you to remember this day not only once a year but always♡
